What’s The Home Design Forecast for 2024?

Each year we hear about the latest and greatest for home design and decor. Even though we don’t usually remodel or redecorate every year, we can surely add some touches that will bring the past and present together and spruce up our spaces, so they look modern and current with the new trends. It’s amazing what a coat of new paint, or how minor updates can bring your home quickly into the present. The saying what goes around comes back around seems to be true in some of the top design trends for 2024. Here are a few trends that may give you creative ideas in your home.

  1. Warm Neutrals

It’s time to say goodbye to all the gray and white tones. You will be seeing warmer neutrals like beige, creamy off-whites and rich browns taking their place. So, if you have white and gray, you can warm it up with browns or rich neutrals. You can do this by bringing in natural woods. The warm neutrals bring back the cozier, welcoming backdrop to your home.

  2. Mudrooms

This room made the list last year as well. Everyone needs this room…a place to drop shoes, backpacks, coats, groceries or whatever they are bringing in from the outside. These rooms have always been popular in cold weather climates as the perfect room to enter when coming in from the snow…a place to remove wet snow boots, coats, etc. But they are a perfect space in any home, especially within a laundry room.

  3. Wood Grain Cabinets

Gone are the days of slapping a coat of paint on your kitchen cabinets to give your kitchen a new look. Natural wood is now the go to in the kitchen for cabinets. White Oak and walnut are at the top of the list when selecting cabinetry. We’re seeing the flat panel style with no hardware (think Scandinavian) which creates a clean, modern look.

  4. Storage and More Storage

In the kitchen some call this “appliance garages.” There is no better way to declutter a space, especially in the kitchen, than to conceal countertop appliances such as toaster, blenders, while keeping them accessible. This is done by adding deep cabinet drawers that will house your small appliance while keeping them within reach.

  5. Handmade Features

Go to the estate sales, flea markets and don’t be afraid of unique or different. Find those home design elements that feel unique to you such as an old vanity mirror, custom bathroom vanity, or even special tiles that can be incorporated into a space. This all creates a space that is reflective of you and your personal style. This is what makes your home special to you.

  6. Large Window Banks

Everyone loves natural light in a home and the quickest way to add light is to add windows. Homeowners are now adding full bank windows at the back of their home opening to the outside living or their backyards. Bring the outside in!

Whether you follow the trends, there is no right way to redecorate or remodel your home. Let your style and personality shine through…after all, it is your space, and you must love where you live. The happiest homeowners are the ones who create their space specifically for themselves.
